Vanessa
Hi, I am Vanessa,
I am from Mexico City, where I studied marketing and gained a master's degree in commercial management. I moved to NYC a few years back and I very much enjoy working here as a childcare provider.
My adventure with childcare started in a daycare in Mexico City, where I gained great experience working with groups of one, two, and three-year-olds. Patience is a key - especially when dealing with a three-year logic ;)
Distraction is sometimes the best strategy - alongside lots of physical activity and hands-on sensory play. My go-to activities to keep kids engaged and interested were arts and crafts projects, reading books, and playing board games.
My daycare experience comes in handy while working with families in NYC. Aside from ensuring kids under my care are always safe and have lots of fun, I also implement boundaries and manners. Saying please or thank you is important. The best way to teach kids respect is by showing them respect. Kids learn by watching us, including how we deal with big feelings. Letting them feel all emotions and validating them is how we can help them develop good coping mechanisms in their adult lives.
In my free time, I love a good workout at the gym, meditation classes, or reading a book. I also love to travel and explore different NYC restaurants.
I'm looking forward to meeting lots of Project Date Night families!
